eibe Play Ltd recently finished the development of a new Adventure Play Space at Irchester Country Park near Wellingborough. The £100,000 project which was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund was completed in March this year and is proving to be a massive success. |
The new Play Space boasts a range of timber play equipment which caters for all age groups, and abilities and compliments the Country Parks history and background and existing surroundings perfectly. The Park is a former Ironstone Quarry and with it being recognised as a Regionally Important Geological Site (RIGS) owing to its Jurassic geology which has been exposed as a result of the mining, eibe wanted to incorporate this history and those themes within the new play space. |

The eibe design team set about designing what would be a scaled down version of the Country Park. Complete with it’s own ‘Ironstone Quarry’ climbing wall set into an existing mound and by creating a Sand Play digging area where children could unearth Jurassic fossils, eibe have been able to incorporate education and history whilst providing stimulating, exciting and fun play for children of all ages and abilities. |
Along with it’s new Visitor Centre and ‘High Ropes’ Adventure course the Country Park has become a real destination park for School Trips, Locals and Families with a significant, visible increase since the Parks new developments! |

Mark Gornall, Play Space Consultant from eibe Play commented: “This is a great example of how the eibe design team can take a client’s initial concept and turn that into reality. The combination of natural play and landscaping with high energy, dynamic play equipment has really benefited the Country Park and drawn people in from far and wide which is great to see.” |
