Doing Things By The Brook

Jarvis Brook is a brand new Playspace in deepest Sussex.

An out-dated and run down metal play area in East Sussex has been given a much needed revamp with the introduction of a variety of eibe play equipment and a Multi-Use Games Arena (MUGA). At a cost of £95,000, helped by National Lottery Funding, as well as from Crowborough Town Council and Wealden Town Council, Jarvis Brook is a brand new all-wooden playspace. The project took almost two years to come to fruition with the constant strive to attract enough funding the biggest obstacle.

Stuart Evans of eibe worked alongside Jarvis Brook Residence Association members throughout the 24 month period and all parties were thrilled when the plans were eventually signed off. The play area includes swings, a climbing unit, a seesaw, a sand pit, a floor trampoline, toddler swings, a sensory area and sympathetic planting. For the more energetic, there is a MUGA with goals and basketball hoops. The client, who was drawn to eibe’s unique and natural-looking equipment, had the pleasure of opening the park officially in December 2011. The grand ceremony featured hot dogs and soup to warm the hardy souls who came out to brave the elements.
