eibe team muck in to get Selsey job done on time

In February 2011, the Town Clerk for Selsey, Gill Jennings, approached eibe to undertake a revamp of its East Beach area.

With a healthy budget of £40,000, there was the opportunity to introduce something of genuine impact for the local community and the thousands of tourists that visit the Sussex seaside town every year.

The playspace was to be located in the vicinity of the skate park, bmx track and other metal play items.

One of five companies asked to quote for the project; eibe presented a nautical based theme to include a centrepiece Pinta play ship alongside a smaller rowing boat and other items such as a nest swing, seesaw, roundabout and Minimondo Salvia – products that are guaranteed to entertain children of varying ages for long periods of time.

Gill Jennings was drawn to eibe’s wooden equipment and was impressed how everything blended smoothly in to the natural coastal environment; so much so in fact, that eibe was asked to extend the new area and introduce toddler’s and junior’s swings, increasing the total venture’s value to £48,000.

On the official ‘red tape’ opening day, a local nursery was invited to try out the new playspace and over 100 children attended; lots of goody bags were handed out by eibe’s Stuart Evans, who admitted,

“With the launch came a real sense of relief, as the install team, eibe staff and local residents all turned out to shift soil and move items in order to help complete the project on time and meet the imposing deadline.”

Evans: Happy to get hands dirty
