Adventurous school climber

Everyone here at eibe Play, were delighted to work alongside St Edwards School, on their latest play equipment addition, during the school summer holidays in 2022.

Over the past three years, eibe Play has been working alongside the school over the past three years to improve their outdoor play facilities and develop a development plan for the next few years. The school initially approached eibe Play after visiting another school, Muntham House in West Sussex, as they were impressed with the play equipment, we had installed there.

St Edwards School is a particular school providing care and education for boys who experience behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The school was keen to provide play equipment that promotes risk and challenge and offers a wide range of opportunities to improve their upper and lower body strength and coordination skills.

In 2020 eibe Play installed two of our Robinia Climbing Pick Up Stick Systems, called the Kayla and Ema. Both are beautifully crafted and designed to encourage climbing and role play whilst promoting essential development skills such as coordination and balancing.

We returned in 2021 to refurbish the school’s tennis courts, providing an artificial surface with pitch markings to allow for competitive tennis games and small-sided football games.

As this was so successful, in early 2022, the school commissioned us to install a new artificial grass area, which was previously unused, to provide a quiet, enclosed space for the school children that require it. On completing this project, the school started speaking to eibe Play about introducing a new balancing trail to the school.

The brief was to create a trim trail that promotes balancing and teamwork. However, it was not too high off the ground. Eibe Play had the perfect item to meet this brief and recommended our Beginners Walk Trail with the addition of our Wobbly Cha-Cha Bridge. Made from softwood pine with galvanised steel, the natural look to this blends in perfectly with the beautiful school grounds it’s installed into. The work was completed in one day and in time for when the kids returned from their summer break.

Eibe Play hope this trail will be loved and well used by the school children for years to come!
