Flight of Fancy

Daedalus is one of the prime locations for any aviation, aerospace and core manufacturing business in the Home Counties.

Steeped in history and set amidst a stunning seaside landscape, Solent Airport (formerly known as Daedalus airfield), welcomes visitors all year round to its beautiful coastal location. With progressive plans for the future to make it an even more attractive family attraction, Fareham Borough Council have recently installed a brand-new aviation-themed playspace courtesy of eibe Play.

eibe was awarded the tender at the start of the year, and despite the obvious difficulties the pandemic of 2020 has caused, the team were delighted to officially open Daedulus Common Play Area recently.

Working alongside Emma Watts, Lead Office at Fareham Borough Council, the new playspace is notable for two main reasons: the themed nature of some of the bespoke equipment and surfacing, as well as the comprehensive all-inclusive products, meaning children of all abilities can enjoy themselves for hours.

The stand-out feature is the tailor-made plane with wheelchair access; other inclusive equipment of note is the Wheelchair Roundabout, Satellite Carousel, Stand-up Seesaw and Nest Swing. Elsewhere, there is a delightful Kamet toddler unit, surrounded by Wetpour graphics to highlight the themed aspect once more.

Future plans include a café and car park extension, so Daedulus is set to have a really busy 2021 – as long as our play areas can remain open!
