Grovelands Play Area slides into 2024

Elmbridge Borough Council and eibe Play share a fantastic relationship, and the council’s green ethos and design brief match eibe Plays' core beliefs.

The council asked eibe Play to quote for a like-for-like stainless steel slide, as the current one was severely damaged. An eibe representative met the council on site to scope the installation and the required slide type. It was clear that a bespoke slide was needed due to the size of the mound and the platform the slide attached to at the top.

The council also wished to enhance the experience around the slide, and to create ways for the children to gain access to the platform at the top of the mound. eibe Play strategically placed a number of their Step 40 stepping logs going up the side of the mound to include a challenging balancing play experience for the children using the mound. The mound already had a staircase leading up one side of the mound; however, the steps and rail showed signs of rot and age. eibe Play replaced these with a recycled plastic sleeper step and included a brand-new handrail leading up one side of the staircase.

eibe Play is a specialist in slide replacements and was more than happy to provide an effective, cost-saving solution. The new stainless-steel slide was ordered to the bespoke length and size and installed towards the end of 2023. The installation was successful and was completed with a new wetpour surface overlay around the new slide to give life to the existing surfacing base.

eibe Play hopes this slide will be loved and used by local children for years to come!
