The site was an old disused play area within Flatts Lane Country Park. Very popular park with the local community. eibe have created a fun, exciting, challenging play area for children of 8-13yrs of all abilities.
We have developed the design following extensive consultation with the community and had to attend a workshop following the award of the contract so that the local community could view the designs and express their opinions.
The site has posed various challenges such as the fact that the site is on an old brickworks so there were lots and lots of rocks, bricks and rubble under the soil and also the very poor weather mixed with the sites poor drainage meant we had change and adapt the site to suite the conditions to make the play area usable all year round. This involved putting bark in rather than turf and grass matting as originally planned.
The new play area has equipment such as an aerial cableway, Amazon Jungle Unit, Embankment Slide and Snake Swing along with an adventure course set within the woodland valley.
