A yearlong regeneration project around Surrey has come to a successful conclusion thanks to the opening of a new playspace at Crownpitts Recreation Park in Godalming. It is the 5th and final part of the Waverley Borough Council scheme that has run throughout 2013, featuring the installation of new play areas in Weybourne, Milford, Badshot Lea and Grayswood.
This final site, backed with a healthy £35,000 budget had previously hosted just an old seesaw and a balancing pole; it was seldom utilised and very unwelcoming. The council wanted to introduce a more natural-looking play area, aimed at 2 – 8 year olds that did not look out of place in its rural location.
eibe decided to showcase its robinia range to the customer which included our attractive climbing tower with slide, toddler climbing unit and swings, as well as a balancing beam and poles. We also installed a fantastic satellite carousel and then finished the area off with natural log balancing stepping points. Work started in late August 2013 and was completed in early September 2013. Local residents, who were somewhat nervous about the project, really like the new play area.
Waverley Borough Council are also delighted with their year’s work says eibe’s Stuart Evans,
“Each of the five schemes has had its own personality with a slightly different brief each time. The team of Waverley have been great to work with and have installed a brilliant quintet of eibe playspaces for Surrey’s kids to enjoy. I hope there are even more plans for 2014!”
