Working to a demanding project timeline and budget, and navigating a series of planning delays affecting the wider development, eibe Play collaborated closely with all stakeholders to deliver a high-quality, inclusive play space on time and to specification.
The park's coastal location presented an additional design consideration: all equipment needed to withstand the corrosive effects of a seaside environment. Power-coated play equipment with stainless steel fixings was specified throughout to ensure long-term durability and safety.
eibe Play designed and installed a fully inclusive, bespoke play area featuring a carefully curated selection of innovative equipment to appeal to children of all ages and abilities:
- 'Praying Mantis' climbing unit with integrated slide — a striking centrepiece that encourages adventurous play
- Wheelchair-accessible toddler unit — featuring a slide, climbing wall, and climbing net, ensuring the space is welcoming to all children
- Zip line — a perennial favourite delivering thrills for older children
- Flora traversing unit — promoting balance, coordination, and active movement
- Themed spring rockers — imaginative, engaging play for younger visitors
- Themed crawling tunnel — encouraging exploration and imaginative play
- Artificial grass safety surface with padded underlay — installed to EN1177 safety certification standards, providing a safe, attractive, and low-maintenance finish
The play area was completed in the first week of July 2026, perfectly timed for the Grand Opening of the wider £25 million Unity Beach development. The finished space delivers an inclusive, exciting, and durable play environment that will delight visitors for years to come — and stands as a testament to what can be achieved through close collaboration, careful planning, and quality craftsmanship, even under challenging project conditions.
