eibe Play Delivers Vibrant New Community Playground in Kesgrave

eibe Play is very proud of the playground upgrade we completed at Grange Meadow in Kesgrave, where we delivered a new play area that is fun, colourful, and engaging for the local community. Our submission was explicitly created to meet the Council's specifications, prioritising sustainability, inclusivity, and high quality. The design of the new play area focused on providing a varied, accessible space for the target age range of 3 to 10-year-olds.

eibe focused on creating an inclusive environment that caters to the needs of all children, including those with disabilities, by incorporating features accessible from a seated position and including a variety of inclusive physical, social, and sensory experiences. The equipment selection was designed to offer diverse play opportunities meeting differing physical, mental, and emotional needs. For dynamic motion, we installed a Double Swing with Cradle Seats for toddlers (ages 1–4), which enhances balance and coordination while fostering face-to-face interaction with adults. We also provided a Double Swing with Flat Seats, promoting cooperation and parallel play.

To promote physical development and challenge, we included an Active Climbing Unit (ages 5–12) to build agility, core strength, and coordination while encouraging turn-taking and conflict avoidance. We ensured all ages had specific multi-play areas: the colourful Toddler Multi Play (ages 1–4) develops fine motor skills and boosts confidence and communication, while our Junior Multiplay Tower (ages 3–12) offers dynamic physical development through climbing, sliding, and balancing.

In terms of unique items, we installed a Trampoline (ages 3+), which is a highly popular and inclusive item that improves agility and balance while offering calming effects and sensory stimulation. The accessible Spinning Cup (ages 2–7) teaches cooperation and logical thinking while introducing concepts such as centrifugal force and gravity. Further supporting balance and focus, the Beginner’s Walk Balance Trail (ages 3–10) encourages coordination without coming into contact with the ground. Our modern Four-Person Inclusive Seesaw (ages 3+) includes back supports, fostering teamwork and demonstrating cause-and-effect through weight shifts. For sensory engagement, we installed imaginative Play Panels (ages 2+). We also incorporated low-maintenance benches and bike/scooter racks to encourage healthy living.

Throughout the project, our goal was to deliver quality. Our Projects Team, who are SMSTS qualified, operated in accordance with the 2015 CDM Regulations, ensuring that all construction work was carried out in accordance with the instructions and EN1176/EN1777 standards. We maintained continuous communication with the Council through bi-weekly pre-start meetings and weekly update meetings to ensure the project was delivered on time and on budget. Upon completion, we verified the area against the BSEN1176 and BSEN1177 standards, and an independent play inspection confirmed that all standards were met, after which the site was handed over. For all our projects, we provide a complete maintenance manual and equipment documents with full details of spare parts for our life equipment, ensuring the long-term safety and longevity of the play area.
