New Lease of Life for Brickfields Play Area Following Major Refurbishment

Brickfields Play Area has been transformed into a vibrant, inclusive space for local families following a comprehensive refurbishment delivered by eibe Play in partnership with Arun District Council.

The project builds on a long-standing relationship between eibe Play and the council, which first began in 2010. Over the past 15 years, the two organisations have collaborated on numerous successful play schemes across the borough, creating engaging outdoor spaces for children of all ages.

In late 2025, eibe Play was invited to tender for the refurbishment of Brickfields Play Area, which had been identified by Arun District Council as a site in need of revitalisation. Following a competitive tender process and consultation, eibe Play was awarded the contract, with construction works commencing shortly after the Christmas period.

A key priority of the redesign was accessibility. The play area is known to become particularly wet during the winter months, so the new scheme includes pathways to ensure families can comfortably navigate the site all year round. The layout has also been carefully designed to improve access to each piece of equipment, making the space more inclusive for all users.

At the heart of the refurbished playground is a new toddler multi-play unit from eibe Play’s popular Steelox range. Designed for children aged two to five, the unit features a variety of play panels and interactive elements, offering endless opportunities for imaginative and physical play. Complementing this are a sensory play house and sensory play panels, encouraging creative exploration and stimulating young minds.

For children seeking more active play, the upgraded site now includes a new swing frame catering to all ages, complete with flat and toddler seats. A much-loved nest swing, positioned just outside the main play area, adds further inclusive swinging fun for children of different abilities.

One of the standout additions is a 20-metre steel cableway, set to be a firm favourite among local youngsters. The high-energy feature promises hours of excitement as children whizz along the track.

eibe Play has expressed pride in delivering the refurbished space and looks forward to continuing its strong partnership with Arun District Council to ensure Brickfields Play Area remains a valued community asset for years to come.
