New Play Area Brings Fresh Energy to the Heart of Woodhouse Eaves

Woodhouse Eaves has welcomed an exciting new addition to its village centre, with the official opening of a vibrant new play area beside the village hall in December 2025.

Designed, supplied and installed by eibe play Ltd, the upgraded facility replaces the previous play provision with a dynamic, inclusive space created to meet the needs of local families. The project was driven by a clear ambition from the community: to deliver a more engaging, varied and challenging environment for children of all ages.

Working closely with the Parish Council and community representatives, eibe play developed a design that combines creativity, physical challenge and accessibility. Particular emphasis was placed on expanding opportunities for older children while ensuring inclusive play options for younger users.

The result is a well-balanced and thoughtfully designed play space. Older children can test their strength and agility on a Ninja Warrior-inspired Tough Trail, scale the impressive pyramid climber, or soar across the site on the new zip wire. For younger children, the area includes an inclusive spring rocker with back support, a trio of trampolines and a mini springer seesaw, offering safe yet stimulating play experiences.

Constructed from high-quality timber and robust, durable materials, the equipment has been built to withstand heavy use and the changing British weather. An all-weather safety surface improves accessibility and ensures the playground can be enjoyed year-round. Throughout the design and specification process, safety, longevity and ease of maintenance remained central considerations — safeguarding the Parish Council’s investment for the long term.

Given the play area’s prominent location next to the village hall and green, careful coordination was essential during installation. Works were completed efficiently with minimal disruption to village life, and all equipment underwent full inspection and safety checks prior to opening.

The official launch brought the community together for a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony, with children eager to explore the new facilities. Representatives from eibe play attended the event to support the celebrations and engage with residents. The occasion also raised funds for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, reflecting the strong community spirit that shaped the project from the outset.

Since opening, the play area has quickly become a valued hub for families, encouraging active play, social interaction and outdoor wellbeing. The collaboration between Woodhouse Eaves and eibe play demonstrates how community engagement and specialist design expertise can transform a local space into a lasting asset at the heart of village life.
