AmicusHorizon has a portfolio of just under 28,000 homes. With assets of £1.25 billion, the southern-based housing association will have built nearly 1,000 homes before the end of 2018 arrives.
One of Amicus’ recent development projects saw them partner with eibe Play to install a new playspace at Priory Road in Hastings. The £50,000 scheme followed two waves of consultation and was eventually completed in the summer of 2014.
Paul Redden, managing director of eibe Play, stated,
“The neighbourhood had been experiencing some anti-social behaviour and random acts of mindless violence. The play facilities needed a drastic overhaul, and cosmetically a complete make-over was required.”
The new area, funded by Amicus Horizon, features a Galleon-themed play ship, as well as other fantastic play equipment.
Mike Bushell, neighbourhood manager at AmicusHorizon, commented:
“We wanted to give children and residents ownership of their play area. The old play area was dull and largely unused and so we worked closely with the community to deliver a modern play space. It’s great to see how happy residents are with the transformation, and to see a play area that’s in keeping with Hastings’ heritage as a fishing town.”
The refurbishment began in late spring and took just eight weeks to complete after the local community led the design process and told AmicusHorizon what they wanted.
Resident Jamie Champion added: “I think the new play area is absolutely fantastic. It has brought the community together. More people now go out there and socialise while their children play.”
