Good Spot in Badshot

eibe is well on the way to completing the widespread regeneration of a host of playspaces in Surrey. Funded by Waverley Borough Council, Badshot Recreational Ground is the third project of the £160,000 development scheme and the latest to open in the summer of 2013.

On what was a notoriously wet local area, the eibe team wanted a provision for all-round play and looked at the installation of rubber bonded mulch around each individual piece of equipment (as pictured). Not only does the rubber allow for easier drainage; but more importantly, the neighbourhood children can enjoy the new playground regardless of any inclement weather.

The area itself features two sets of swings for toddlers and juniors, a stand up seesaw, some trim trail, three rockers including a ship themed version, and a large climbing unit with various adventurous assents and drops. Also included is one of eibe’s minimondo ‘Seagulls’ climbing units; a delightful piece of equipment that allows younger children to learn vital climbing skills and dexterity, before taking on the challenge of the larger model.

Finally, the team extended the site to allow room for additional seating, so that watching parents can enjoy a picnic and a social catch up, while the kids play happily in their new surroundings.

Stuart Evans, eibe’s Southern Consultant says that while each scheme has its own specifications and vagaries, it is delivered with the same stamp of professionalism,

“We always promise to deliver projects on time and on budget. With Waverley, we consistently complete the specific playspace according to the time schedule and client design brief. Now we move determinedly on to Number Four!”
