Thatcham Catch 'em All!

There may not be any Pokemon lurking around, but Thatcham Discovery Nature Centre near Reading is sure to be a big draw in Berkshire in the future after a brand new eibe playground was installed in September.

The £150,000 project from West Berkshire Council resulted from a competitive tender bid back in 2018 and finally came to fruition in late summer 2019.

Working alongside Countryside Manager, Paul Hendry, the eibe team designed a robinia-centric wooden playspace that blends in beautifully with the natural surroundings.

The stand-out feature is the aesthetically lovely Shadra Unit, surrounded by a host of other great equipment, deliberately aimed at children of all ages. There are lots of climbing products, as well as a Nest Swing, Play Panels, Musical Chimes and Balancing Trails.

Stage 2 of the Thatcham Scheme begins very soon and will include an inclusive roundabout and a stand-up seesaw.
